Bragg Cemetery is located in the SW 1/4 of Section 12 in Dodge Township, Union County.  From Lorimor travel west on the REA Road about 5 miles to Redwood Lane.  Turn south for a quarter of a mile.  The cemetery is on the east side of the road where the road turns west.  

 

Lewis Bragg acquired the land surrounding the cemetery fron the Iowa School Land Grants on 28 March 1864.  A school house was situated on the Bragg land from 1860 to 1877 near the cemetery.  In 1877, the school board deeded to the Trustees of Dodge Township land to be used exclusively for cemetery purposes for $5.00. Signed by School Board members: David Arnold, President; John Elliott, L G Galbreath, A Whyte,Joseph Thompson, J S Handley, and L G Tyler on 22 March 1877.  The cemetery may have been called Leek/Leeke Cemetery at one time.  America E Wheeler Bragg, first wife of Lewis Bragg died 26 November 1863.  Speculation is that she was buried in Bragg Cemetery although no tombstone has been found.
