This single stone cemetery is located on the SE 1/4 of Section 8 in Union Township, Union County to the west of an A frame home on the old Creamery Road north of Afton.  One large granite marker erected by Charles Maharry in the 1920s is inscribed reading, "In memory of the dead buried here-1863".  The is believed to be the first cemetery of Afton. Early newspapers refer to burials at the Afton cemetery north of town.  In the early sixities, many of the burials were moved to the Greenlawn cemetery northeast of Afton.  To visit the monument, permission should be requested from the home owner before continuing up the drive to the monument located in a field.
