Located in Platte Township, SW 1/4, Section 34, the Bruning Cemetery was the first cemetery in Platte township named for the first pioneer in the township, F. H. Bruning. The name of the first person buried is unknown, but as it was located on the Bruning farm, it is thought that the person was either someone staying at the Bruning home, or a daughter of a tenant.
